In mid January 2021, a young lady was discovered standing on the northeast corner of US1 and Ridge road. She held a “HOMELESS. JOBLESS.” sign. This January has been particular cold, with temperature dropping below freezing on certain days. This lady found her way to South Brunswick and was assisted by our South Brunswick Social Services and Police Department to situate at a local hotel.

When SB Square discovered her, she was still without a job and needed much support. A GoFundMe fundraiser was created to help pay for her hotel stay until she can be on her own. In all, 15 donations were initially made to help extend her stay for 1 week. Several amazing Sisters of South Brunswicks also gathered to purchase clothing, toiletries and feminine products, as well as provided gift cards. Food and monetary donations were made on a regular basis. Even more heartwarming is that one particular Sister helped her find a job right here in South Brunswick, but she will still need funds to last a couple of months.
